Long Island, NY pricing — built from our actual 2024–2026 North Shore project data. Move the sliders to get a real-world estimate range for your wall.
The base numbers come from the last 80+ retaining wall projects we've completed on Long Island's North Shore between 2024 and 2026. We took the materials, drainage, geogrid, and permit costs out of our actual invoices and built a linear-foot-and-height pricing model from there. Then we layered in cost factors for tear-outs, difficult access, and engineering requirements based on real overhead.
Bear in mind the calculator is doing what every contractor does in their head on a first phone call: estimating from typical conditions. Real soil, real grade, real access, and real permit complexity can swing a number 15 to 25 percent in either direction. The numbers here are honest middle-of-the-road estimates, not floor or ceiling.
It can't see your soil. It can't see a perched water table, a clay lens, or a buried oil tank from 1968 (yes, we've found one). It can't see how your neighbor's wall is leaning into the property line or whether the prior contractor left an undersized footing in the ground. Those are real things, and they're the reason we still come out and walk the property before writing a real quote.
That said, if you use this calculator and the number is wildly different from the quotes you've gotten elsewhere, that's worth asking about. If a contractor is way under our number, they're probably skipping drainage or geogrid. If they're way over, they may be marking up for something the job doesn't actually need.
